In the process, inert gas is passed through an electric arc formed between the cylindrical copper anode & the centrally aligned tungsten-tipped cathode.
As the gas passes through the arc it disassociates the molecules and ionizes the atoms, thereby forming a plasma jet.

The Plasma system allow’s the use of materials with extremely high melting points, making them ideal for the application of MCrAIY’s and ceramics such as chromium, zirconium & aluminum oxides.

Although the versatility of the plasma spray process makes it a preferred choice for many applications; plasma spray is particularly attractive for applications requiring thermal barrier coatings and ceramics.
